Our Motivation

Calling all staff, officers, Special Constables and volunteers...

Sadly, 60 men are lost globally to suicide every hour. To raise awareness we’re encouraging as many colleagues as possible to become active this Movember. We firmly believe improving our physical health and becoming more active will ultimately help our mental health, reducing anxiety and stress levels.

Below are the challenges we've planned for this year's Movember. Pick whichever one you like or create one especially for you. You can do it!

MOVEMBER 2024
MO YOUR OWN WAY (SWP)

STEP 1…Pick your challenge:

1. 60,000 STEPS:
Daily, it is recommended we all walk at least 10,000 steps. Whatever your average, add an extra 2000 steps (60,000 over the month) to your daily movements. Ace this challenge... one step at a time!

2. 60k MO-VE:
Run? Walk? Cycle? Row? Hike? Stick to one activity or mix it up and combine. Give yourself a challenge to improve your fitness. Complete 60km of mo-vement throughout Movember. Go on, it’s only 2k a day!

3. 60 FOR 60
Complete 60 reps daily... these can be whatever exercises/movements you like. Mix it up or stick with a daily routine. Feel free to include kms (walking, running, riding, walking, rowing... it's up to you).

4. MO MO MO-VE:
Set your own challenge! Pick an amount of kms to complete daily or for the whole month. Push yourself and fellow colleagues to chase a target and go the extra mile (or km)

5. 100 CLUB:
Complete x100 Press-Ups everyday of Movember, that's right... x3000 in total. Break them down into manageable chunks (e.g x10 sets of 10 throughout your day).

6. SIX60:
Pick six exercises and complete 60 reps of each per day. This is big challenge, please only attempt if you are familiar with the exercises. Always make sure your technique is correct, stretching accordingly pre and post workout.

7. KG KLUB:
Pick X number of kilograms you would like to lift per day or over the whole month. Not suitable for beginners. Check your technique is correct and that you have a gym buddy to help support.

STEP 2… Create a profile and join our team.

STEP 3… JOIN OUR COLLABORATIVE SPOTIFY PLAYLIST:

Your participation and donations are very much appreciated

Good luck everyone!

Hey Team MYOW!
A fantastic effort thus far, high 5!
Time for a last push to end the month in style! Keep mo-ving and encouraging donations. We're currently in 2nd place on the UK Emergency Services Leaderboard.

To celebrate we've organised an end of Movember walk this Saturday in Cardiff Bay, full details on the graphic.

Hope to see many of you there to toast a fine month of mo-ving! JG
