My motivation

2022 - It’s the small things that bring it home. Below is a photo of my family at my wedding, only my brother is missing. When we were getting everything ready for the wedding and making the name cards for the table plan it hit me that he would not be there. I still wanted the name card so that I could keep it with me for the wedding so it was like he was there with us. This is one of many occasions where he was missed, graduations and birthdays amongst others. He was not there because he decided he could not go on any longer and took his own life on Christmas Eve 1987. He is dearly missed but we do our best to always remember him. Please know that it’s ok to not feel ok and it’s ok to talk to others how you feel. This is why movember is so important, to let people know they are important and that they would be missed. Please donate what you can, I know times are hard for everyone but for others times are harder.

2021 - This is my brother Belal. This photo was taken when he was 17, he would have been 51 this year. He looks happy there but and no one thought there was anything wrong but unfortunately the Christmas Eve after this photo was taken Belal felt things were not ok and took his own life. I was 10 at the time but I still hurt knowing that he could not talk to me or anyone else about what was going on in his life to set him down the path he chose to take. Whilst we are much better as a society at not telling people to ‘man up’ we still have so far to go. People need to learn that it’s ok not to be ok, it’s ok to ask for help, it’s ok to say ‘I need help’ or reply ‘no’ when people ask how if they are ok. It seems like it was yesterday I put this post up last year but it’s still so important to me so I’m asking again if you can donate what you can to help with this years @movember and help save someone’s life, to help prevent another family having to go thorough the hurt mine did and still do. I wish I had a photo of us together that we could look back and laugh at now while we make new memories, we can’t do that and it hurts. I’ll be shaving my beard and growing my tache to raise awareness for the month of November, Please help - link will be in my bio. #movember #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #itsoktonitbeok

2020 - Christmas Eve 1987. My brother decided he was not ok and took his own life. I still remember clearly my parents getting the news over the phone. My brother felt he could not speak to anyone. That was 33 years ago and unfortunately people still feel the same way. It’s ok to not be ok, it’s also ok to ask if someone is ok. The simple act of asking might get them to open up, it might save a life. I wish I had asked my brother if he was ok. I wish he had told me he was not ok. I’m raising money to raise awareness of male suicide. I’ll be growing a tache, it’s not for the attention, it’s so if someone asks me why I’m growing it I can then tell them and raise awareness.

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men's health, and this Movember I'm joining them. Together we can make a difference for men's health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Help me stop men dying too young.

It's mid-month and the Mos are coming through strong. Farnham RUFC lead the way in the Sports Challenge fundraising leaderboard as I write, but where do you feature?

Don't forget to thank your donors and give potential donors an extra incentive to donate; an example of a Movember funded project, a special thanks from you, or simply because of the terrible itch your moustache is giving you. Thanks sporting Mos, we are over £200,000 raised and going strong!
