Our Motivation

Rugby has a massive “Man Up” stigma behind it, being portrayed as a culture where men can’t speak up. This needs to change.

That’s why at MMU Rugby Union we’re raising awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

We want to change the narrative and make Rugby a safe space for men to talk. We’re doing this through multiple fundraising events where all money raised is being donated to Movember.

You can also “Move for Mo” like your captains! This is running 60km across Movember, 1km for each man that takes their life every hour.

We want to do everything in our power to help, even if it’s just one person at a time.

So lads, get your moustaches and mullets ready for this month, Mo well!!

I’m braving the shave this Movember in support of Men’s mental health. As someone who has dealt with mental health issues, this cause is extremely important to me. There is a stigma attached to mental health in young men, which is often covered up and hidden. By participating in Movember I hope to show my bravery of shaving my signature moustache, I can encourage bravery for lads to talk to one another and realise you are never alone and there will always be people around them to offer a shoulder to cry on.
