Our Motivation

Welcome to our page! We are members of the physio team at Borders General Hospital (BGH) in the Scottish Borders and we're raising awareness this month for Men's Health - mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Even when the day gets busy let's keep in touch with the dad's, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. A simple check in can make a world of difference.

Men’s health
- Men die 3.5 years younger than women in the UK
- Each year, more than 4,300 men die by suicide in the UK

Suicide prevention
- In the UK, 3 out of 4 deaths by suicide are men
- In England and Wales, suicide is the leading cause of death among men aged 20–34

Prostate cancer
- Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst men in the UK
- One man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK

Testicular cancer
- Testicular cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young men in the UK
- Almost 35,000 men are estimated to be living with or beyond a testicular cancer diagnosis in the UK
