Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Help me stop men dying too young.
Male suicide remains a critical public health issue in the UK, with men accounting for approximately 74% of all suicides. On average, 14 men die by suicide every day, making it the leading cause of death for men under 50. The suicide rate among men in England and Wales was 17.6 per 100,000 in 2024, with the highest rates seen in men aged 50–54. Regional disparities are stark—North East England recorded rates more than double those in London. Since 2000, over 90,000 men have died by suicide in England and Wales, enough to fill Wembley Stadium.
