My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health

This Movember, I’m taking on a triathlon-style challenge — running 75 km, swimming 12.5 km, and cycling 300 km — to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. Part of UoM Rugby Union!

Each distance is symbolic and reflects key statistics about men’s health that Movember highlights:

Run 75 km — representing the fact that around 3 in 4 suicides are by men.

Swim 12.5 km — because 1 in 8 men (12.5%) experiences a common mental health problem like anxiety or depression at any given time.

Cycle 300 km — as men in England and Wales are about three times more likely to die by suicide than women.

I’m aiming to raise £750, with all proceeds going directly to my Movember account to support vital work in mental health.
Men’s mental health is deeply important to me. Too many men suffer in silence, and I’ve experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to face those struggles.

About Me and the Challenge

I’m a Computer Science and Mathematics student at the University of Manchester, balancing an intense academic schedule with regular training and gym work. I also play for the University of Manchester Rugby Union team — although I’m currently recovering from a shoulder injury, I’m still training and staying involved as much as I can.

This challenge will be demanding — balancing university deadlines, training, recovery, and everyday student life will push me both physically and mentally. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. Men often take on a lot without speaking up, and I want to show that it’s okay to acknowledge challenges, seek support, and keep moving forward with purpose.

These efforts represent more than just distances — they’re about raising awareness, inspiring conversations, and supporting men everywhere to take their mental and physical health seriously.

Twas the night before Movember, when all through the land,
Not a whisker was stirring, not one single strand.
The razors were readied by the sink with care,
In hopes that a smooth-to-be face would soon be there.
The Mo Bros and Sisters were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Mo glory ran through their heads.

Yes folks, the hairiest month of the year begins TOMORROW!!

Hopefully all the plans for your team’s campaigns are in place, and if not – there is still time to recruit, make plans and build hype. Last year the sports challenge made a serious impact, and we’re gonna do it all again this year.

It's mid-month and the Mos are coming through strong. Farnham RUFC lead the way in the Sports Challenge fundraising leaderboard as I write, but where do you feature?

Don't forget to thank your donors and give potential donors an extra incentive to donate; an example of a Movember funded project, a special thanks from you, or simply because of the terrible itch your moustache is giving you. Thanks sporting Mos, we are over £200,000 raised and going strong!
