My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

In my 3rd and final year as Newcastle Ambassador, I wanted to really push myself for this challenge. Over the last 3 years Movember has become much more than a few charity matches each year at Newcastle, we have broken the fundraising record in both years and are aiming to make that 3 in a row. We now have large scale inter-club tournaments each year, huge group efforts for running miles and walking huge distances, more and more individual team members taking on personal challenges and carrying on the legacy of the previous students'. In collaboration with a local prints company I have sold over 4000 shirts, raising >£40,000 donated into various clubs' fundraising pots, which are a visible presence all around the University and Newcastle itself. We have seen a huge increase in participation during Movember from Womens' sports clubs which has been incredible to see. We have featured in local papers, collabed with Pringles in 2024, given interviews, and hosted the annual BUCS shave down event in 2025. The culture around men's mental health throughout the university has come a long way, with welfare systems in societies improving and the knowledge that talking to your friends and reaching out is an extremely brave and rewarding step to take. However, there is still work to do and I am confident that the next Newcastle Ambassadors will continue to raise more and more money for the cause and keep encouraging the difficult conversations, as the rate of suicide in men is still alarmingly high. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Be the person somebody can talk to, and look after yourself. Help stop men dying too young. Any and all donations are very appreciated.

ONE MORE DAY TO MO

As Movember draws to a close, we hope that those of you who are growing are beginning to feel at one with the Mo.

Will be a sad day for those that will be losing their furry face furniture soon but remember, you still have until 11th December until the leader boards close... so maybe you can extend the Mo growth just a bit longer.

Comedian Nick Helm has perfectly shown the Movember journey - go give it some love!

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
