Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Men’s mental health is finally gaining the attention it deserves across social media, news outlets, and daily conversations. Increased awareness and open dialogue are vital steps forward. However, many men continue to suffer in silence. Recognising when someone is struggling can be challenging, and it is all too easy to overlook or dismiss these struggles.

To raise awareness and encourage men to break this silence, I am embarking on a mission to climb the equivalent depth of the Mariana Trench, 11,000 meters. This challenge symbolises that even when you feel at your lowest, there is always a path up from rock bottom. My goal is to convey that silence is not the answer to mental health challenges and to remind those who are struggling that they are not alone and that there are people who will fight with them.

Cycling is an outlet that i use as a release, it gives me direction, i would be lost without it and it has been vital for my own mental health. It has given me the opportunity to meet many great people, make some life long friendships and create some awesome memories which i hope is conveyed in the few pictures attached. This is why i think it is fitting to use it as a tool to spread awareness.

At the end of July 2024 I will be climbing Winnats Pass, an infamous climb in the Peak District, 57 times to accumulate the necessary elevation to climb out of the trench. The climb is just under 2km long and gains 196m of elevation, reaching grades of 20%, making it the perfect setting for the challenge.

Together, let’s support each other in finding the strength to speak out and seek help. Join me in advocating for men’s mental health and showing that no one has to face their battles in isolation.
