My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Testicular cancer

Movember has helped me through cancer, and helped to highlight the mental health impact that it caused later on. We all need to support each other and raise awareness of men's physical and mental health issues. Movember helps us all to do that in our own ways.

Now I want to support others who need help in whatever way is right for them.

Movember CC ride!

Yesterday I completed my goal for Mo'ving 300km in November, a whole week early. Appropriately it was completed during the Movember CC weekly ride on Zwift, but the total was done with a combination of commuting to work, indoor cycling and walking the dog. This shows that a little and often adds up, getting some fresh air and exercise can help with your physical and mental health, by yourself or with mates. You don't have to be an athlete, just get out and do something.

Come and enjoy a ride on Zwift with the Movember CC on a Wednesday evening at 18:30 GMT. We take a gentle pace, have a chat and try to have fun to relieve some stress in the middle of the week

Tomorrow is the last day of Movember and it has been a momentus one (see what I did there?).

I am hoping to finish with a ride on Zwift up to the top Ventop of 1500m and end on a high (see what I did there again?) and complete 10000km of climbing in the month. Hopefully I will feel OK to do that tomorrow as I had my Covid booster yesterday and am feeling a bit sore from it, but it is far, far better to stay safe and healthy.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Movember and me, and thank you to everyone who is looking after themselves and checking up on their mates. Stay safe, ride up!

This evening I made it to the summit of my Movember Everest challenge. I am on top of the world to have made it and have another challenge to see if I can make before the end of the month (watch this space).

I hope I have inspired people to think about men's health, look out for each other. Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of my cancer diagnosis and I am grateful that I found the lump in my balls when I did as it was an easy fix and I am still here to spend time with my friends and family.

Ride on everyone, stay safe, look after yourself and each other.

Great ride with Malcy and Julie around Watopia Hilly route. We had some banter about ride food, agreeing on bacon and egg rolls. Our KOM times got slower which I think was because of chat and not because we were tired.

Today shows how a bike ride can be a nice way to meet people, talk about things you didn't think you would and get some exercise in at the same time. I'm looking forward to the next one but have a feeling there will be more hills.

I need help. I am not too proud to ask for it. I’ll be posting ride details soon and would really, really appreciate some company.

Training on Sunday was hard. Maybe it was the late night, or a hard week at work, I was knackered. The Muir and the Mountains course on Zwift is one of routes for the challenge; a longer ride of 38km but a lower elevation of about 800m. I thought it would be easier than the Alpe du Zwift but I found it tough. A mate shared his experience of a getting a sub-3 hour marathon time. His detail was amazing -- diet, weight, training plans, race day plans, kit. I figured I would just jump on and go for it. Oh shit.

57 Week(s) Ago

I tried the Road to Sky ride this week which was very hard going up (approx 1000m climb between 6% and 15%) and great going down (my sub-challenge in Movember is to get the 100kph badge). Still, it took just over 1 hour 30 mins, and my legs were OK after a couple of days which was a good sign. With a careful rest and recovery I might be OK with that sort of rides twice a week, otherwise I will have to go for 3 less brutal ones.

Owain Doull kindly shared his personal reasons for supporting Movember last year. He's given his backing to the 150 as well. He talks about why it's important to keep supporting others, and reaching out for help when facing mental health issues ourselves.

Hey 150 crew, here are my top 3 tips to help raise vital funds for Movember.

1. Timing is everything. Pay day is approaching at the end of the month, a good time to ask for support. Start fundraising early as well, and it makes it easier to hit your target.
2. Donate to yourself, if you can. It can get the ball rolling, but also shows you're really serious about fundraising.
3. Rally your friends. More riders multiply your fundraising, together. See what you can achieve on a group ride.

Don't forget our water bottle and jersey rewards as well for raising £100 and £500 respectively. Best of luck!

Ozzy from Mo HQ here. Welcome everyone to the inaugural Movember 150, we can’t wait to see how you’re going to take on your 150kms in Men’s Health Week. Thank you so much for your support.

It’s time to plan how you’re going to hit your distance and fundraising goals. You’ll also have the reward of our Movember water bottle for raising £100, and the cycle jersey for raising £500 – two great reasons to get your fundraising started!

If you have any questions, please email info.uk@movember.com or call 0207 952 2060. Good luck!
