My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Prostate cancer

Every ten minutes, a man in the UK is diagnosed with prostate cancer. This Movember, let’s unite to raise awareness, support each other, and fund vital research. Every moment counts, and together, we can make a difference.

I recently overheard someone say that he was “NOT going to get prostate cancer.” I admire his confidence and hope he’s right. Unfortunately, one in eight of us chaps will have it in our lifetimes. More will experience other prostate issues.

My Mo this year is in tribute to my friends Mark, Dave, Chris + Chris, Graham, Steve, and Rob. We’ve all had radical surgery or radiotherapy to extend our lives. The latest just completed 20 days of radiotherapy.

I am fortunate this Movember, to have had my 64th birthday accompanied with a 5-year “stable” result from my PSA tracker.

I’m grateful to Renishaw for inviting me to join its Movember fundraising team and still inspired when I think about the use of its precision encoders in the da Vinci Robot used to assist in my surgery. The Robot Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RALP) procedure now accounts for around 94% of all cancer-related prostate surgeries.

I call that making a difference, so let’s keep this conversation going.

Normally I grow a regular Mo. Its not rebellious enough! My wife doesn't care for it so what the heck. I'm hearing Steppenwolf blast out "Born to be wild" from Easy Rider (1969). Watch the lip!

Hey Phil,
Anne-Cecile here, the Country Director for Movember UK. Welcome to the Movember family!
I wanted to get in touch personally to say well done on an incredible month so far! Because of you, we are able to change men’s lives by funding projects like Gap 4, aimed at improving the lives of those with advanced prostate cancer.

Thank you – keep up the great work!

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
