Our Motivation

Globally, on average, 1 man dies by suicide every minute of every day.

This means that everyday we lose 1,440 sons, brothers, friends and fathers to suicide. The initiative "Mo Miles - Team 14Forty" was founded in 2020 to raise awareness for the true global severity of male mental health issues ultimately leading to suicide and to represent the 1,440 men each day whom feel unable to continue living through their struggles.

Over the course of November, the 14Forty team will aim to complete 1,440km (walking, running, cycling or swimming) each day. To put this mileage into perspective, it is just slightly further than the equivalent distance from London to Milan as the crow flies every day for a month.

Given the enormity of the challenge, a large team has been assembled with both moustaches and group exercise being encouraged either from members of the same household or socially distanced to help grind out the miles. The sense of togetherness whilst working towards a common goal provides a calming reminder that you are not alone. 200 men and women from all over the world have come together to do their bit with the joint aim of stopping men dying young.

By the end of the month, the team hopes to have covered 43,200 kilometres and have raised over £10,000 for Movember. Although this sounds like a lot of miles, it is of far more importance to recognise that number as the total count for male suicides across the world that will tragically occur throughout the month.

I would recommend setting you own personal goals for the month and encourage as many others to get involved as possible. Spreading awareness for the issue as far as possible is what this initiative it is all about.

Dig deep. Together we will stop men dying young.

Hey!

Thank you for signing up for Movember 2022, it's awesome to have you back! Last year you were one of our top teams and we can’t thank you enough for your amazing support!

Your fundraising means we were able to invest £5.7M million in Scaling What Works; a grant fund that aims to supercharge mental health initiatives that have shown promise in improving mental health and wellbeing for young boys and men.  You can find out more about the 7 UK projects on our website.

If there is anything we can do to help make this Movember a success, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Mo Love,
