Our Motivation

This year members of the RUMS Men's Hockey Club will be attempting to raise money for Men's Health. Though it is a topic a lot of men neglect talking about it is something we need to talk about more. Cancer and mental health are particularly worth mentioning as although this perhaps isn't widely known, men are "16% more likely to develop cancer and 40% more likely to die from cancer than women" (NHS report 2009), although this difference has decreased by the looks of the 2014-2016 Cancer Research UK report, men are still more likely to develop cancer. Moreover, according to 2018 Suicide statistics report conducted by Samaritans " UK men remain three times more likely to take their own lives than women".
