We work closely with our global men's health partners to ensure collaboration, transparency and accountability for every project we fund. We monitor this through report cards which detail what we seek to achieve, key measures and the impact.
Prostate Cancer
"Together with the brightest minds in research, we aim to achieve significant breakthroughs in the hope of beating prostate cancer. Our disruptive funding approach identifies revolutionary ways to accelerate health outcomes by creating strong, global collaborative teams." Dr. Colleen Nelson, Global Scientific Chair.
Men's Health
"One Mo can help change the face of men’s health through the powerful conversations created globally during Movember. Men have the chance to confidently discuss men’s health with people around them, resulting in men taking action early, helping change and save lives." Paul Villanti, Executive Director, Programmes
Mental health and suicide prevention
“The number of men taking their own lives around the world is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Movember is working to ensure all men and boys look after their mental health and are comfortable to seek help when they’re struggling.”
Brendan Maher, Global Director, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
Testicular Cancer
“Despite being the 2nd most common cancer in young men, testicular cancer is often a forgotten cancer due to early detection and treatment. Our projects look at underinvested areas such as improving access to healthcare services and treatment options for relapse” Paul Villanti, Executive Director, Programmes.

About the project

Through this funding opportunity we are aiming to address the mental health risks associated with social isolation through digital and or technological interventions, particularly within groups of men who are at risk and where these innovative solutions can potentially be scaled for greater impact.

Eleven projects across Australia, Canada, Ireland, and UK initially received investment to co-develop their ideas with Movember over a two-year period. Details about those successful funding recipients can be found here: https://au.movember.com/story/movember-announces-funding-for-11-new-projects-to-support-men-s-mental-health.

In September 2023, The Man Cave was one of five projects to receive additional funding to implement and evaluate their project 'The Cave on Twitch' over the next two years.

Project Funding:
Phase 1 Co-Development: AUD 250,000
Phase 2 Implementation: AUD 400,000

'The Cave on Twitch' is a new way for The Man Cave to support teenage boys to navigate positive social connection in one of the fastest growing sectors in the world - online gaming. The program aims to empower teenage boys to build self-awareness, reduce mental health stigma and promote connections in an environment that is engaging, entertaining and safe. Highly trained, charismatic, relatable Digital Facilitators will use a 'gamification' approach to character development, leveraging the unique appeal of 'Twitch' to build emotional capacity and mental health literacy for teenage boys.  https://themancave.life/programs/
