My motivation

I’m trying to raise a bit of money.
WHY?
We all have partners, fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, and friends that we love. Too many of these men are dying too young, impacting relationships, families, and communities. In the UK the most common cancer in males is prostate cancer. In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. Prostate cancer can be detected early through screening tests. Early detection can lead to a better prognosis and improved long-term survival rates.
Worldwide 60 men die from suicide every 60 minutes, men make up 50% of the population but 80% of suicides.
PERSONAL CONTEXT
In the past 5 years I have had 3 friends diagnosed with prostate cancer. One of the three had no symptoms and all are at various stages of treatment and recovery. Growing up my best friend was someone I met at junior school, he was born the same day as me and was my best man. At 25 he took his own life. In those days men didn’t talk about mental health, things have improved, there is still a long way to go and too many lives being lost.
HOW?
Growing a Mo……it might be puny, but it’s the best I can do AND……… In recognition of the 60 suicides in 60 minutes worldwide in my 60th year I am aiming to run an average of 60 miles per month for the whole year.

How I'm
getting involved
0 of 720 miles
running
I'm running 60 miles (average) each month during my 60th year for the 60 men we lose each hour of every day.

The halfway picture is a pretty shocking effort. The Mo isn't great either.
