My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

This November, I’m trying to raise as much money as possible to support charities that work for men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

I believe that mental health in all men is a vastly under talked about subject. The fact that one man dies by suicide every minute of every day is a tragedy that we can work together to avoid. Children growing up without fathers, mothers losing sons and good people losing friends is not okay.

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence.

I have never felt like I have lost control of my mental health before but three years ago for the first time, I did. I let my health and appearance decline dramatically, and I knew something needed to change.

I reached out to friends, got support from a wonderful community of horse people, and found a good therapist! Not everyone is in a situation to be able to do those things, and that’s where raising money comes in. Movember works with numerous mental health charities, as well as working with testicular cancer, prostate cancer and more! The aim is to form various initiatives both in the UK and abroad that help men open up about mental health, and prevent suicide. The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of struggling men, and their families.
