My motivation

Let's be honest.

In the list of fundraising events, not shaving my upper lip for a month isn't the most onerous. So why am I doing it, and why am I asking for your donations.

Movember, for me, is first and foremost about raising awareness and showing support of Men's Health. Specifically, cancers such as Testicular & Prostate, and Men's Mental Health.

At med school, there was always the stereotype of the late presenting man, forced to come in by his wife - because Men Don't Need Help, or some other outdated nonsense.

Thankfully, things have changed. But there's still lots of work to do.

Young men are still more likely to die by suicide than any other cause. Bad Mental Health is a huge problem across society, and some groups struggle in getting help, Men among them. Frankly, me amongst them.

So I'm growing a ginger moustache, getting asked on a daily basis why it's a different colour to the rest of my hair as a sign of solidarity, support and a crutch to ask for your support.
