I'd like to spread a little more awareness about the importance of men’s mental and physical health - a topic that is not talked about enough. It's simply not the case that there is "nothing we can do".
A few facts, men…
• die younger than women do;
• have higher death rates for almost all of the leading causes of death and at all ages;
• often adopt lifestyles which are responsible for many chronic diseases;
• present themselves later to health services which often leads to a number of problems becoming untreatable.
The fact is, men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent, so my colleagues and I have decided to play our part in improving better health awareness with our colleagues, families and friends.
Every single additional conversation that we can start, as a result of our combined efforts, is a great result. The only way to change behaviour is to promote more discussions, more engagement and more awareness.
