My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

In July of 2017 my father, best friend, and all round good egg left for the land of eternal beers and boobies. He was a great dad. He wasn't afraid of challenges, and often sought them out. Though his biggest was bipolar.

With suicide being the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 across Wales, and the UK, and with a severe lack of funding from government bodies, many individuals are left feeling isolated, alone and vulnerable. 2017, the year my father passed, the rate of male suicide sat at a consistent rate of 11.8 per 100,000 in Wales, this has only risen, and continues to rise each year.

Losing my father felt like I'd lost a part of my core, I try to do something each year to both remember my dad, and raise awareness of suicide prevention and male mental health. Preferably, this something will involve me making a tit out of myself, as it's what he'd have wanted.

So, in February 2022 (moved from November 2021 due to Covid), I plan to trek to Everest Base Camp. It is something that I would have loved to have done with my dad, so please, if you can donate, do, as it may allow someone else to trek with their dad one day in the future.

A video interview by myself with Movember can be watched here if you'd like to learn more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-D4ADYoKII

I hope you eventually enjoyed Tom Cardy?? I'm sorry our paths didn't cross further up, but it'd be great to know how you got on and how you found it? Tim

Beth, your video and your story are an amazing inspiration. it's not just about the money that you raise, but the awareness too. I don't think that you need me to wish you luck - I am sure you will achieve everything that you set out to do. X

Hi hi sumae shwmae
Last week I was lucky enough to have a visit from Sarah and Robin from Movember to film and talk about what the trek, and why I've chosen to raise money. Check it out below!

I just wanted to write a little something to let donaters know that the trek is being postponed until March 2022.

Despite being gutted by this, it’s both the right and safest decision to make, as the potential risk to myself, alongside the unnecessary risk that would be posed to the porters and guides, could contribute to making an already strained situation worse concerning the Nepali health infrastructure.
Hopefully, come the NY, Covid-19 will give the people of Nepal some breathing space, and I'll be able to go arse over tit at base camp. :)

So I'm currently the epitome of Michael Scott from The Office now that we've reached a grand. I couldn't be more grateful, thank you so much/diolch yn fawr iawn!

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
