Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

If you have made it to this page you have more than likely followed my seemingly constant posting on social media. I do this because raising awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention is very important to me. In September 2019 my cousin Billy took his own life, I despair to imagine the hopelessness he felt. I write this because on numerous occasions I have done just that…

I cannot still articulate an answer to what ‘mental health’ is. But I can relate to the grief and trauma that I experienced. I was left in a headspace that I couldn’t shake. I couldn’t answer how I was feeling, but mentally my head felt clouded, some days were overcast with bright spells other days were more like monsoons. In that time I refused to label my problems to ‘mental health’ issues as I didn’t fully understand them and was sceptical of the stigma around it. Raising awareness and understanding is important so the stigma is removed and people can identify issues without fearing judgement and realise most people are facing an internal struggle of some sort. I felt my experience wasn’t worth sharing, but if it helps one person reading this then it will be worthwhile.

Thankfully, I have a strong friendship group and family that were there for me and helped me to get back to myself. A simple text or call from a friend can make all the difference, I can’t stress enough how uplifting a simple chat can be whether; over the phone, a coffee, dinner or drinks

So please check in on your brothers & sisters and hopefully when you see a “Mo” it may open a conversation that you may not have had before. I will be growing a mo and running 60km, for the 60 men we lose to suicide every hour across the world, during the month of November.

#BUSHFORBILLY

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. Movember is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

Hi Gavin,

Thank you for signing up for Movember 2022, it’s great to have you back on board! Last year you were one of our Platinum Club legends and we can’t thank you enough for your amazing support.

Your fundraising means we were able to invest £5.7M million in Scaling What Works; a grant programme that aims to supercharge mental health initiatives that have shown real promise in improving mental health and wellbeing for young boys and men, across communities.

If there is anything we can do to help make this Movember a success, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I hope you have a great month!

On Saturday 19th Movember, Mo Bros Rugby and Kew Occasionals will once again do battle in the name of men's health.

Last year's match ended 39-38 to the visiting team, so you know it's going to be another cracking competition this year. Come along to see highly skilled, moustachioed men chucking a rugby ball about, all in the name of men's health.
Kick off is 14:00 at Richmond Athletic Ground, with the bar open before, during and after! We will then pile into the clubhouse for the England vs. New Zealand game at 17:30, and party the night away…

It's mid-month and the Mos are coming through strong. Farnham RUFC lead the way in the Sports Challenge fundraising leaderboard as I write, but where do you feature?

Don't forget to thank your donors and give potential donors an extra incentive to donate; an example of a Movember funded project, a special thanks from you, or simply because of the terrible itch your moustache is giving you. Thanks sporting Mos, we are over £200,000 raised and going strong!

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
