My motivation

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in late summer 2010 and placed on active surveillance until spring 2012 when I underwent a radical prostatectomy. The results were good and bad, the cancer at first appeared not to have spread from the prostate, however they found cancer in my lymphatic system. In January 2015 my PSA levels were rising rapidly and I was told I would probably not survive the year. However later that year I was offered the chance to join a drugs trial (the STAMPEDE trial). I was told that with luck if my body reacted well to the drugs it could extend my life by 5 or 6 years. As at October 2024 I am now the longest surviving member of Arm J of the trial.
Since 2011 Geordie Jim’s Boys have raised over £115,000 for charity, mostly going to Movember UK and Prostate Cancer UK but some to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Cancer Research UK and local charities. I would like to think that the work we have done has also saved the lives of men I have spoken to and reached out to about prostate cancer. My sons and I were proud to be asked to appear in a Movember advert.
My pipedream was to get to £100,000 before I die but having surpassed that I'll just keep going.
PLEASE if you have read this and would like to help donate just £1/$1/€1 to me or the team at https://movember.com/m/geordiejim?mc=1 direct into Geordie Jim’s Boys Bank account 55-50-10 57125996

Well done Jim, from Michael and Emma

Twas the night before Movember, when all through the land,
Not a whisker was stirring, not one single strand.
The razors were readied by the sink with care,
In hopes that a smooth-to-be face would soon be there.
The Mo Bros and Sisters were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Mo glory ran through their heads.

Yes folks, the hairiest month of the year begins TOMORROW!!

Hopefully all the plans for your team’s campaigns are in place, and if not – there is still time to recruit, make plans and build hype. Last year the sports challenge made a serious impact, and we’re gonna do it all again this year.

BE THE DIFFERENCE IN MOVEMBER 2024!
