The Hairy Handlebars

The Hairy Handlebars London to Tokyo cycle
Mental Health | Real Stories
Today, the Hairy Handlebars (Ben Cook and George Cullen), kick off their London to Tokyo cycle in support of Movember and men's health.

The trip will see them (and their Mo's) ride over 6,000 miles across the largest landmass on earth and pass through 21 countries along the way. The aim: to reach Japan by October for the Rugby World Cup.

“A huge motivation for us is the chance to raise awareness of mental health issues in men. As things stand, the ability for men to get things off the chest, a proven relief of mental health problems, is simply not where it needs to be.”

“We have to get to a point where men are able to talk openly about their issues and seek help, whether from mates, family or a professional. We hope that we can do our own small bit in ensuring no man has to suffer in silence- if that means getting one man to reach out to someone about their problems, then taking on our cycle will be worth it.”

The Hairy Handlebars hope to raise £30,000 for Movember. If you would like to donate, you can access their fundraising page here.

“By taking on this epic challenge, The Hairy Handlebars will be raising vital funds and awareness to tackle some of the biggest health issues men face around the world, so it is fitting that their gruelling cycle will take them across the world’s largest landmass. Everyone at Movember wishes them the best of luck on their trip, and we urge everyone to support these two dedicated Mo Bros as they take their fine facial hair to Japan and back. We are sure it will be fun, tough and rewarding, and we are hugely grateful for their support.” John Owens, Movember
