This Autumn, Movember is representing the men we serve and heading to annual political Party Conferences in the UK. Party conferences are where political parties set out their priorities, debate policy and connect with members and stakeholders. These moments are a vital opportunity for us to meet with policymakers, Parliamentarians and sector representatives, to listen and understand how men’s health is showing up and share the experiences of men across the UK. We will be talking to mental health policy, suicide prevention, online influencers, prostate and testicular cancers and the upcoming Men’s Health Strategy for England.
Movember will attend four Party Conferences: Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats and Reform bringing the voices of our community directly to the decision-makers to ensure men’s health remains high on the political agenda. For Labour and Conservative, we’ll be back with our much-loved Movember Barbershop – a space to sit down, have a conversation and to hear about why men’s health matters. The barbershop will also debut at the Liberal Democrat conference for the first-time as we progress our work in the policy space.
Movember will be hosting our first-ever fringe event on Sunday 28th September at 2pm in Arena Room - Clyde, entitled, “Why the f**k do we need a Men’s Health Strategy? The crisis in Men’s Health and the rise in Masculinity Influencers.”
The panel will explore the crisis in men’s health, highlighting the urgent need for a bold Men’s Health Strategy, and examining how prevention, community-based care and healthy masculinities can improve outcomes for men and boys. We'll also have our Barbershop at Stand A20 – come find us there!
At Conservative Party Conference, you’ll find the Movember Barbershop in the exhibition hall at Stand 14. This will be a key space for us to engage with members, policymakers and Shadow Ministers about how early action, prevention and investment in men’s health, can save lives.
Alongside the Barbershop at Stand 25 and 26, Movember is joining the panel for the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) fringe event on Sunday 21st September 6.15pm in The Meryick Suite, BIC. Entitled, “The Lost Boys: A Response to the crisis facing young men” the event will discuss how we can support boys and young men to thrive.
We’ll be sharing updates from conferences once we return and if you happen to be attending Conference, please do come say hi.
