It’s time to talk: Professor Green and friends open up on men’s health & masculinity for Movember

Movember
2 minutes read time

With England’s first Men’s Health Strategy on the horizon, Movember is calling on the UK Government to deliver a well-funded, long-term plan to stop men dying too young.

Talking about what it means to be a man

To spark a national conversation, we’ve launched a bold new campaign featuring Professor Green, Jordan Stephens, Ugo Monye, Olly Bowman, Paul Olima and Dominic Lawrence.

In a candid fireside chat, this all-male line up open up about mental health, resilience and identity. Sharing the moments that shaped who they are and what being a man really means.

Raw, honest and relatable, the series shows that talking about men’s health isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength.

The real numbers

Some awakening facts around the reality men face and why these conversations are so important:

  • Men in England live 4.5 years less than women
  • 2 in 5 UK men die prematurely, before they are 75 years old
  • Suicide is still the leading cause of death for men under 50

As well as this, a recent Movember poll found:

  • 60% of UK men believe it’s harder to be a good man today than 10 years ago
  • 69% of Britons support the new Men’s Health Strategy

What will the Men’s health strategy aim to do?

England’s Men’s Health Strategy marks a rare opportunity to reshape how men’s health is understood and supported. It aims to:

  • Improve access to care
  • Focus on prevention
  • Ensure services meet men where they are

Other countries have already seen results: Ireland’s men’s health policy helped avoid an estimated 17,000 potential years of life lost, while Australia continues to invest heavily in male-specific support.
