Men’s health is often brushed under the carpet until it’s too late, and most of us don’t understand the risks to men’s health. Well, here they are:
- Over 400 men die from suicide every month, and around 3 out of 4 suicides are men. A man dies of suicide every 60 seconds in the U.K.
- 1.4m men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and a man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the U.K. Currently, nearly 6m men are living with Prostate cancer globally.
- Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men and is the most diagnosed cancer in the U.K.
These stats are chilling, especially as these are all largely preventable. We can stop men dying from suicide, from prostate cancer, from testicular cancer. But to do so we need your help.
The Movember Foundation is the leading charity changing the face of men's health. Their aims are to:
-Reduce the number of male suicides by 25% by 2030.
- Halve the number of men dying from prostate cancer by 2030.
- Halve the number of men dying from testicular cancer by 2030.
This year, Kingston University London are stepping up the challenge to raise funds for men’s health. We want to change the image of being a man. We want men to understand the risks to their health. We want men to check themselves before it’s too late. We want men to reach out and support one another. We want men to be men of more words. Our aim is to stop every dad, every brother and every son from dying too young.
Together, we can help to stop men from dying too young.
