5 steps to kickstart your Movember

You’ve signed up. You’re fired up. But now you’re wondering… “What exactly do I do?”

No stress - we’ve got your back.

Whether it’s your first Movember or your tenth, here are five simple ways to kick off strong, get going and make some noise for men’s health this Movember.

1. Put your Mo Space to work

Your Mo Space is where friends, family, and co-workers come to donate and cheer you on. When it looks good, it works harder for you.

Here’s how to set it up for success:

  • Add a photo - A real face builds instant trust. Whether it’s a Day 1 clean-shaven selfie or a mid-month moustache masterpiece, upload a personal photo of you.
  • Tell your story - In a sentence or two, share why you’re doing Movember. Are you doing it for a friend? For your dad? For yourself? Make it personal. That’s what inspires people to give.
  • Set a goal - Fundraising targets aren’t just numbers—they’re magnets. When people see a goal, they’ll want to help you get there.

Pro Tip: Mo's with all three—photo, story, and goal—raise much more. Five minutes now = donations later.

2. Get that first donation

The first donation launches your campaign. The fastest way? Donate to yourself. Even £10 gets the progress bar moving and shows others you’re serious. It’s simple fundraising psychology: people give when they see you’ve gone first.

Pro Tip: Leave a fun or heartfelt note with your self-donation (“Starting strong with £10 for the Mo—who’s next?”).

3. Tell the world what you’re doing

Fundraising works best when people know what you’re doing—and why. Start simple:

“I’m doing Movember to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. This cause is personal to me, and I’m proud to be part of a global movement making a difference. You can support me here: [Mo Space link]”

Share it everywhere—text, socials, work chat, your sports team group. The more places your link lives, the more likely someone will click.

Pro Tip: A few personal DMs often work even better than public posts. People give to people, not just causes—so make it personal.

4. Choose how you Mo

Movember is all about doing good your way. Pick what fits you:

  1. Grow - Let your upper lip do the talking. Every moustache is a walking, talking billboard for men’s health - sparking conversations and raising funds all month long.
  2. Move - Run, walk, cycle—just move 60km in honour of the 60 men lost to suicide every hour around the world. Every kilometer is a step toward change.
  3. Host - Bring people together with a trivia night, games tournament, or office lunch. Fun + friends = fundraising magic.
  4. Mo Your Own Way - Take on something bold, weird, or wonderful—from physical challenges to dares for donations. If it gets attention, it can raise money.

Pro Tip: Whatever you choose, tie it back to why men’s health matters to you.

5. Have fun, do good

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert. You just have to start. Every dollar fuels life-changing work in mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

And remember, you’re not doing this alone. You’re part of a global community—millions strong—all standing up for men’s health. Together, we’re changing the face of men’s health for good. That’s something worth smiling about (and maybe even growing a moustache for).
