My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

HEALTH IS WEALTH! Health is not just about what you eat and drink but how we feel and think.

There is some amongst us that may struggle to grow some rather impressive top lip banter (even at the age of 24). However, this is not a reason to prevent us all; both men and women from raising awareness regarding Men’s Mental Health and Suicide prevention throughout Movember.

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men's health, and this Movember I'm joining them for my 4th consecutive year. Together we can make a difference for men's health. Help me stop men dying too young.

In 2020, I Mo’d my own way, which included: Dying my hair purple; representing my University’s colours, completing 60 Press Ups a day for the 60 Men that take their own lives on a da basis and a Budgy smuggler car wash (50 cars and In the pouring rain may I add)!

I managed to top the tables at Leeds Beckett University with a fundraising total of £2,120! This also placed me in the Top 20 fundraisers in the UK!

The year before last, I supported the students and my fellow members of staff at King Edward’s School, Birmingham. Where I was heavily involved and active in delivering talks and assemblies for the boys in Year 7 to Sixth form. These sessions addressed the messages of Movember with a particular focus on Mental Health and Suicide prevention. In addition to this, I supported a handful of students in the lower sixth who hosted Movember directed fundraisers at school which engaged both members of staff and students. I also assisted in the fundraising taking place within the school by selling Movember moustache badges to my colleagues and the pupils at King Edward’s for them to wear throughout the month.

Last year in 2022, I completed a 10KM RUN between Goring By-Sea (George V Avenue) and Worthing (Marine Parade/ The Pavillion) in the famous Budgy Smugglers that some of you may have witnessed me in, during my time washing cars on the streets of Headingley, Leeds back in 2020.

Any level of participation this month is a positive step in the right direction... Any donation, any effort to fundraise and any conversations you may have with your fellow BROs over the next 30 days and beyond are all factors supporting the Movemeber movement.

This year, in addition to recently being appointed a work place ambassador for the charity, I will be participating in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 7th April 2024 in attempt to fundraise beyond what I have previously.

In school, I have organised a whole school ‘Moustache’ day. In exchange for a donation all members of staff and students will receive a stick on moustache which they will wear for the entirety of the day on Saturday 25th November in recognition of Movember and men’s health.

Prior to the October half term I led a whole school assembly which informed my colleagues and pupils of the charities objectives, my own motivations to get involved with Movember and the various ways in which I have fundraised since 2020.

Societies stigma around Mental Health needs to change and it needs to change NOW! Help me and be a part of the change this Movember!

"Don’t man up, OPEN up!".
