Movember is on the hunt for passionate Mo Bros and Mo Sisters to help change the face of men’s health. We’re looking for confident and innovative students to lead a Movember fundraising and awareness campaign at their university.
Student ambassadors are crucial members of the Mo team and set a positive example to others at their uni. They recruit students to take part in Movember, coordinate society and club participation, oversee their university challenge page, host fundraising events, run social media campaigns, as well as doing their own personal fundraising. In addition to having a whole lot of fun while making a real difference in the lives of men; it's an amazing opportunity for students looking to gain key skills and experience in leadership, marketing, events, and fundraising.
Full training is provided to ambassadors as well as support from a dedicated Mo staff member. Ambassadors are equipped with the confidence to discuss men’s health and plan their campaign in an ever-changing landscape. And have the opportunity to connect with fellow ambassadors across the country. All ambassadors will receive references from the Movember Foundation and the chance to apply for our summer internship programme at Mo HQ in London.
It’s all to play for each year in the Movember university leaderboard: The Big Moustache on Campus - last year seeing an incredible £2million raised by unis across the UK.
Last year our amazing ambassadors had to get creative with their fundraising ideas. With virtual pub quizzes and shave downs, social media competitions, university-wide Move challenges and, of course, lots of guys growing moustaches.
St. Andrew’s ambassadors Finn and Ned did an incredible job, going above and beyond to lead their university to a whopping £60,000 in 2020. Still in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, it quickly became clear that they’d have to mobilise social media, posting often about their fundraising challenges and creating an entertaining ‘Mo of the year’ Instagram competition at the end of the month. Their social media effort was so noteworthy, they even got a share on Nea Zealand Rugby player Dan Carter’s Instagram - a huge highlight for all the sports fans involved.
The ‘run and chat challenge’ was a particular highlight of the campaign. Encouraging students to go for a run with a friend and check in on their mental health at the same time. It was a great way to get people both moving towards their ‘Move for Movember’ goal of 60km and checking in with mates to address social isolation during pandemic restrictions. An incredible effort by Finn and Ned and all the students of St Andrews, earning them a place in the elite Movember Silver Award club.
