Movember and ITN Productions Industry News are producing a news-style programme ‘Men’s Health Matters’, raising awareness and understanding of men’s health.

Why do men find it hard to get help for their health worries? Globally, on average men die five years earlier than women[1]. In many cases the causes are largely preventable, with men’s reluctance to seek help for their health concerns causing unnecessary suffering.

Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, focussing on three of the biggest health issues facing men: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Anchored by presenter Simon Thomas from the ITN London Studios,Men’s Health Matters’ will show how Movember unites experts from around the world to collaborate on projects that change the way men are supported and treated across these health challenges. The programme will also bring together healthcare professionals, leading businesses and organisations to share their experiences, expertise and initiatives for championing men’s health and health literacy.

Combining expert interviews, real-life case study reports and reporter led sponsored editorial profiles filmed on location, ‘Men’s Health Matters’ will premiere during Men’s Health Week 12th–19th June 2022. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign from Movember and ITN Productions.

Michelle Terry, CEO, Movember said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with ITN Productions to increase awareness and understanding of some of the most serious issues facing men’s health.

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, while testicular cancer is the most common form of the disease in young men. Three out of four suicides are men and it remains the biggest cause of death for men under the age of 44.

“The work we do in raising awareness of the crisis in men’s health and funding innovative men’s health projects is fuelled by the passion and commitment of our Movember community. We look forward to the programme showcasing the work we are doing to improve outcomes for men’s health and ensure men live longer, healthier, happier lives.”

Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions Industry News said:

“We are delighted to partner with such a leading charity as Movember to create a programme that raises awareness of men’s health. We hope we will provide a platform to address existing stigma, help shift perceptions and narrative and offer some practical guidance for men of all ages to help protect their future health.”
