Our Motivation

Three times a week in rain, hail or snow our club comes together to train and play matches. As well as keeping fit and having the craic, we strive to make Glasgow University Gaelic Football Club a space for our members to be able to open up to each other and build a strong support network through sport and friendship.

Despite the amazing work being done in recent years by charities to remove the stigma around mental health, suicide still remains the largest killer of men under 50 in the UK.

This year for our Charity Fundraiser members from our Men’s team will take part in the “Movember” campaign by growing a moustache to raise awareness for men’s health.

Roughly 60 men die from suicide every hour worldwide. 60 brothers, dads, friends, teammates. 60 too many. That’s why our women’s team are also taking on the physical challenge of running/walking 60km per week for the month of November.

Please donate if you can to such a worthwhile cause.

And if any of our members are struggling, please reach out to someone in our club. We also have a welfare officer who can will be able to point you in the direction of university support services. At GUGFC we are a team, and we are so much stronger together.
