So why movember for me ? Well it all really started two years ago. As some of you know I had a quite large rock climbing accident. Left me in an induced coma for 8 days, broken leg, broken jaw, damaged optic nerve in right eye (so hardly any vision in that eye now) and they had to remove part of my skull to deal with the swelling in the brain, the rest of the skull was in many pieces too. It has taken two years but most of the physical bits have been fixed but it has left me with a brain injury and major fatigue. To top it all of Covid has happened as well !

Being sat at home for nearly 2 years, the brain injury and the knowledge of the accident left me with minor anxiety nothing to bad just panicking when I wasn't early for things, worry about the dogs running out the front door if it was open (they never had before and never have done whilst I was worrying about it), worrying mum had hurt herself when she was slightly late back on a dog walk even if I knew deep down she had probably bumped into someone and was having a chat and a few other minor bits like that. Luckily for me I managed to get some sessions with a physcologist at my local brain injuries unit. Just being open and talking about it and ways of tackling it has been a massive help. Being open really is the best way to tackle it.

Going to see the physcologist even when I thought my anxiety wasn't "that bad" has helped me massively and I can only encourage anyone even if you don't think you are massively suffering just to be open and chat it through with a family member or a friend. They might not be a specialist but they will listen and they will want to help. Men's health is something that isn't spoken about enough. Yes it has got better but even now I wonder about posting things on social media or telling people certain things just incase I am judged . No one should have to worry. If a friend is a true friend they will take you as you come. Worts and all. So speak up and be proud of who you are. Some days can be tricky but I promise it is easier with someone by your side to help you through it.

So please if you can sponsor me, even if it's a couple of pennies and I will get rid of the usual stubble, grow out my hideous tash and wet shave my beard (I haven't wet shaved in about 5 years) so my tash can stand loud and proud for the month of November and give a little back to fight for men's mental health !!!

The last 48 hours of what has been a pretty amazing month. Received so many donations, more then I ever thought I would. Had so much support from others and the tash has started so many chats about mental health, mine and others. All I can hope is that more conversations started and more people feeling they can be open about there mental health because of it all. I would like to say it's only 48 more hours of the Mo but 11 months to go

Went out for a lovely walk in the sun today. I really have found just the smallest amount of fresh air helps my mental health massively. The days I feel the worst are when I have sat inside all day. Even when I am massively fatigued I try and go for a 5 min stroll around the playing field. It clears my head and gives me a sense of calm.

Two week update and it's starting to look like a proper tash now. Only 7 weeks until the end of December and shave day. Unless some how I hit the big £2000 then I will have to wait until the next Movember to shave it off !!!!

It's starting to look like a proper tash !! Worryingly nearly at £1250, looks like it might be staying until Christmas

I am a week in and I am still yet to learn how to take a photo of myself. The tash is very slowly comming on and I am already excited to take it off in 3 weeks (as long as Meg Bright doesn't win the bet)

I was a bit worried about the look of my top lip whilst in Bristol, but it looks like you have to have a dodgy looking tash to live here. I feel right at home.

Just on the train down to Bristol to see my brother. I feel like a 14 year old that can grow a small amount of bum fluff and doing it to prove to people he has hit puberty !

And so it begins. All my usual stubble is gone and now I hope some will grow back. All I can say is I hope you enjoy these selfies because give it a few weeks and you will be bored of seeing my mug on here !

All kitted up for the big shave to start with and then to keep my cheeks baby soft whilst my tash grows strong !
